If you have been displaced by Hurricane Irene, help is available. NCHousingSearch.org is a free service to help storm victims locate housing.

Here are some additional steps you can take to get help:

1. If you have insurance, call your insurance company.
2. If you have tornado damage, register with FEMA (even if you do have insurance, because insurance coverage may not be enough). Registering takes about 20 minutes either by phone, on the internet or with mobile devices. 

• Register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or with a web-enabled mobile device smartphone. Visit http://m.fema.gov and follow the link to “apply online for federal assistance.”
• You can also register by calling FEMA at 800-621-FEMA (3362) or TTY 800-462-7585. Phone registration can be done between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.
