Are You Homeless or At Risk?
If you or someone you know is homeless or about to become homeless, there are several state resources that may help.
- For emergency assistance, contact your local county Department of Social Services. Each county operates an emergency assistance program to provide one-time, short-term assistance or can provide information on other local resources.
- Contact your local housing authority to apply for public housing or a section-8 voucher that can be used to pay for privately owned rental housing.
- You may be able to get assistance from the Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP). Contact the service provider in your area. If you have trouble contacting your service provider or one is not available in your community, contact Melvinna Adams, HPRP statewide program coordinator, at 919-855-4993 or .
