Housing Counseling Resources
If you have housing-related problems or just want to know how you can best attain your housing goals, you may want to see a housing counselor. One-on-one discussion with a professional can provide you with valuable information, advice and assistance. The counselor can provide pre-purchase counseling if your home purchase is in the future, mortgage default counseling, financial management and other forms of housing assistance. Housing counseling is designed to help you improve your current housing conditions and to understand the responsibilities of home ownership.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) maintains a list of agencies in North Carolina approved to offer housing counseling services to first-time home buyers, homeowners and senior citizens.
