New Toolkit Links Housing Practices and Health Outcomes

Success Measures at NeighborWorks America developed a set of indicators and data collection tools to help community development practitioners understand how specific housing policies impact social determinants of health. The toolkit includes indicators and collection techniques related to individual health status and behaviors, social and environmental factors affecting health, availability of quality culturally-appropriate services, and strength of cross-sector partnerships. A new national initiative designed and implemented by NeighborWorks America and Enterprise Community Partners is using the tools to demonstrate and document health outcomes in low- and moderate- income communities. This resource is another in a growing body of research connecting housing to health outcomes.
