The program provides interest-free loans up to $500,000 per development. To qualify, projects must include or make available appropriate support services for the residents.
In addition, the housing must serve individuals and families who earn below 50% of area median income. Rents and utilities cannot exceed 30% of gross household income for the residents.
Eligible populations are homeless or non-homeless households that require supportive services, including persons with mental, physical, or developmental disabilities; persons with substance use disorders; persons diagnosed with AIDS and related diseases; and special populations on a case-by-case basis.
The Supportive Housing Development Program loans are permanent, amortizing, interest-free loans. Nonprofits and local governments that are interested in applying for Supportive Housing Development Program funds must schedule a pre-application meeting and site visit prior to submitting an application.
