Habitat's NCHFA House Nears Completion in Asheville

On May 24, several members of North Carolina Housing Finance Agency staff traveled to Asheville for the Bill Dowse Day of Service where they went to work on a very special home—the NCHFA House. This house, one of 25 homes in the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s Hudson Hills development, is dedicated to the incredible history of partnership between the Agency and the Asheville Area Habitat.

Since 1983 the Asheville Area Habitat has built 285 houses for local families, using agency financing for most.

The NCHFA House is not just a new home, but a new start for Catherine Stanley and her son, who have been working hard to build and buy their home where they can finally find safety and stability. As her sweat equity hours wind down and she completes a home maintenance class, Catherine and her son look forward finally calling the NCHFA house their home in late August.

The Agency thanks the Asheville Area Habitat for its partnership, and looks forward to many more years of collaboration.
