You must submit an application requesting Housing Credits during the annual cycle, which typically begins in January. Information about the process can be found in the Qualified Allocation Plan. The competition for Housing Credits is highly competitive with one award for every three to four applications. Having previous experience with housing credits is a prerequisite for submitting an application.

You request either of these Agency loans as part of your application for housing credits. The loans are only available in conjunction with 9% Housing Credits. Additional information about both loan programs can be found in the Qualified Allocation Plan.

You must submit an application requesting tax-exempt bonds during one of two application cycles – one in January (same as the 9% housing credit cycle) and the other beginning in May. Information about each year’s process can be found in the Qualified Allocation Plan. The bond issuer is normally a unit of local government where your property is located—the City, County or Public Housing Authority. Tax-exempt bond projects are not eligible for loans from the Rental Production Program or Workforce Housing Loan Program.
