The NC Homeowner Assistance Fund is being administered by the NC Housing Finance Agency using $273 million that was allocated to North Carolina under the American Rescue Plan to prevent mortgage delinquencies, defaults, displacements, and foreclosures for homeowners experiencing financial difficulties after January 21, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. This program is being supported, in whole or in part, by federal award number HAF0019 awarded to the State of North Carolina by the US Department of the Treasury.
The US Department of the Treasury requires all states to develop and submit a plan in order to receive the funds. Below is a tracker outlining the phases the NC Housing Finance Agency must follow and the status of where we are in the process. The Agency is committed to acting quickly and opening the program to applicants as soon as all the required steps are completed as outlined and approved by the US Treasury and the program is in place.
