Lucius S. Jones of Wendell has been elected president of the National Council of State Housing Bonds (NCSHB), representing the boards of directors that govern the nation's 55 housing finance agencies.

Together these agencies sell $5 billion of bonds a year to finance the first-time homebuyer mortgages.  They also manage $5 billion in federal tax credits to produce affordable rental apartments.

Jones, a home builder and the mayor of Wendell, is chairman of the board of the N.C. Housing Finance Agency, a self-supporting state agency that has financed more than 126,000 affordable homes and apartments.
