RALEIGH—Many North Carolinians struggle to find safe housing that they can afford close to jobs, schools and health care. More than 60 Davie County working families will have a new affordable option at Mocksville Pointe Apartments, which will hold a dedication ceremony on Monday, January 13, at 10 a.m. at 187 Koontz Road. Congressman Ted Budd will be among the speakers.

Mocksville Pointe will provide 66 apartment homes for families who are at or below 60% of the area median income. The new apartment development represents an investment of more than $9.6 million, which will also support 200 jobs and boost the local tax base.

Mocksville Pointe was developed by Mocksville Pointe, LLC, and was funded in part by Housing Tax Credits, administered by the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency. The Agency awards Housing Credits every year under a highly competitive process, receiving three to four applications for every one that receives credits. In exchange for the financing provided through the Housing Tax Credit, owners agree to keep rents affordable for a period of 15 to 30 years for families and individuals with incomes at or below 60% of the local median income. The Housing Credit has financed nearly 100,000 apartments in North Carolina for seniors, working families and people with disabilities.

“Families in Mocksville will now have more affordable options with great amenities and proximity to shopping thanks to Mocksville Pointe,” said Scott Farmer, executive director of the NC Housing Finance Agency. “This is yet another example of how affordable housing investment can impact communities and their residents.”
